Color Therapy for your HOME

I don't know how I know this, but Color Therapy is real. Color Therapy is the use of colors to help you align yourself to a certain energy vibration to help you achieve your goals. You may have noticed the Pantone talks about how each color has a special meaning behind it, as well as the color of each year. You may have noticed interior design trends during the Covid-19 pandemic, where people painted their walls a shade of green. That's because the color green helps you focus on your work and since a lot of people worked from home, many people have been consciously or unconsciously drawn to different shades of green.

How can you use Color Therapy in your home?

Think about your favorite colors for a second. These are colors that you are attracted to for a reason. Each color has a certain vibration. When you are in a meditative state, you are more open to tuning into a color's vibrations. Sensing the vibrational energy of colors is a skill that can be learned and practiced over time, similar to meditation.

"Just like music can get you into a certain mood or mindset, so can colors put you into a certain mood or mindset"

Colors in your home will influence you when you look at them, are near them or touch the color's material or the colored light shines on your body. When you paint a wall (or all four walls) in your home of any paint color, the color's vibrational energy will put you into a certain mood. Just like music can get you into a certain mood or mindset, so can colors put you into a certain mood or mindset. Certain colors we already know how they make us feel: yellow makes us feel happy, blue makes us feel calm, pink makes us feel loved and red makes us feel safe or angry.

"Color therapy is a science that has yet to be researched, however it's as real as the air we breathe"

Therefore, take a look around your home. Are there any colors you love or hate? If you love a color or feel a gravitational pull to certain colors, then you are being brought to your attention that you need more of those colors in your life! If you absolutely love pink, get more pink in your life. You will know when you like or LOVE certain colors, because you won't be able to stop looking at it.

Then there are colors you absolutely hate. These colors, just like trash and clutter you should do something about and get rid of them. Whether that's putting a cover over the ugly couch, or painting a wall or donating that shirt that every time you see it you are disgusted by the color. This is a way of your body telling you that you don't need these colors in your life right now, because the vibrational energy doesn't align with what you need. Imagine you're at a concert with music you absolutely hate. You would do anything to turn off the music or get out of there! It's the same thing with colors, if you don't like them, do something about it. If it doesn't spark joy...

Take another look around your home again. What colors do you see? Do any of the colors make you feel a certain way? Are there any colors you wish were different such as lighter, a different hue or a different color all together? You don't necessarily need to know what each color means. Just focus on how it makes you feel right now. The colors that make you feel happy, calm, loved, focused, motivated, understood, appreciated, thrilled and any other feeling you wish to feel is what you need more of in your life.

Happiness is a choice. Surrounding yourself in an environment that makes you feel at ease is what a home can be. Colors are a conscious decision to make you feel a certain way on a regular basis. Your home is a great starting point on your way to emotional health. It's nature versus nurture. Your home is where you nurture your mind, body, soul and spirit.

What should you do now?

Now that you have an idea of certain colors you love and hate, make a conscious decision and effort to get more of the colors you love into your home and the colors you hate or dislike OUT of your home. It's that simple. If you love the color pink, buy a pink throw blanket next time you go shopping or paint an accent a wall pink or line the cabinets and drawers pink. Whatever floats your boat, just do what makes you happy.

Remember the colors you absolutely hate? GET RID OF THEM. Someone else will love it but not you. Donate it, sell it or give it away or even trash it. Whatever it is (maybe a shirt, a wall that's a nasty color green yellow), get rid of it or paint it or do whatever that needs to be done so that you no longer have to assault your eyes every time you see it. There's nothing worse than feeling disappointed in your own home. If you need help, reach out to someone who specializes in what needs to be done or ask a friend to help.

This might be something that you can work towards and not able to do overnight or in one day or a weekend. Depending on how big of a project it is. However, starting to work on surrounding yourself in an environment that makes you happy can start right now--today!
